The foyer furnishings in this spacious Potomac, Maryland home,

Reflects both transitional style and simplicity.  The distinct cabinet and starburst mirror creates a sophisticated entrée lit by a graceful lamp that casts soft lighting on the bold colored bright orange oriental box.  Once inside the larger foyer, the sleek console displays larger art pieces and pull out seating to view the art filled gallery.

The home’s living room is also non-traditional.  The clients love of music is reflected in the framed “jazz” art in the foyer and the grand piano in the living room.  A conversation pit, with four high backed comfortable swivel chairs replaces the traditional “living room sofa” because this is, in fact, the music room.  The neutral color of the upholstery on the chairs is repeated in the window shades.  The subtle blue design in the carpet compliments the wall art over the fireplace.  The opulent crystal chandelier completes the understated elegance of a very intimate gathering space.

This inviting family room is “entertainment central” with its stone fireplace and slate hearth that is framed by rich wood cabinetry.  The mantle holds colorful handmade pieces created by local artists in their varied travel destinations.  The comfortable neutral sofa and chairs surround a unique coffee table with a lower shelf filled with masks and other artifacts from the client’s art collection.  There is a deliberate balance of heights in this room with the oversized lamp and ivory carvings ensconced on the coffee table.  This cozy, well appointed room merges world cultures and artistic expression.
