Jeremy Kasler, Founder and CEO of CaskX

Explores Bourbon As The New Barrel of Wealth.

By Bianca Chardei

In a time where wealth is being redefined beyond traditional markets, a new class of investors is emerging—one that values ownership not just as a financial outcome, but as a cultural expression. Increasingly, portfolios are expanding beyond stocks and real estate into assets rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and time. Among them, bourbon—long regarded as a symbol of American tradition—is quietly becoming one of the most compelling vehicles for diversification and generational wealth.

At the center of this shift is Jeremy Kasler, Founder and CEO of CaskX, a company that has helped bring structure and access to what was once an insider-only market. With a background spanning fine wine, contemporary art, and other alternative assets, Kasler has built a career identifying where culture and capital converge. Through CaskX, he is not only opening the door to bourbon investment—he is helping redefine how investors engage with tangible assets altogether.

CaskX operates as a platform connecting investors directly with distilleries, allowing qualified individuals to acquire newly distilled barrels at the earliest stage of production. Over time, as the bourbon matures, those barrels evolve—gaining complexity, rarity, and market value. With more than 40,000 casks sold and a growing global investor base, the company has positioned itself at the forefront of a category that continues to gain momentum among sophisticated investors seeking alternatives that are both uncorrelated and enduring.

But what distinguishes bourbon from other alternative assets is not just its performance—it’s its presence. This is an investment you can see, touch, and ultimately experience. It’s a barrel aging quietly in a warehouse today that may one day be opened to mark a milestone, passed down through generations, or transformed into something entirely your own. CaskX allows clients to get hands-on with their investments by offering exclusive VIP tours to partner distilleries—providing rare behind-the-scenes access to the production process, the opportunity to meet the distilling team, and draw samples right from the barrel. In that sense, bourbon represents more than return—it represents relationships.

Historically, access to this market was limited to distilleries, insiders, and large-scale buyers. CaskX has worked to change that by introducing a more structured, transparent approach—grounded in direct distillery relationships, secure storage, and ongoing oversight throughout the lifecycle of the asset. Investors are not simply purchasing barrels; they are participating in a system that supports production, fuels craftsmanship, and connects capital to culture in a meaningful way.

At a time when conversations around wealth are shifting toward legacy, ownership, and long-term thinking, bourbon offers a unique proposition. It requires patience. It rewards discipline. And perhaps most importantly, it creates a bridge between financial strategy and lived experience—an increasingly rare combination in today’s investment landscape.

In this conversation with Monarch Magazine, Kasler reflects on the evolution of bourbon as an asset class, the mindset required to build lasting wealth, and what it means to invest not just for return—but for legacy.

Monarch: Jeremy, before we explore bourbon as an asset class, tell us about your journey.
Jeremy Kasler: I’m originally from England, though I left about 30 years ago and have lived and worked around the world. Most recently, I spent 15 years in Asia working in alternative assets like wine and Chinese contemporary art—what we call passion investments.

Monarch: What was the moment bourbon shifted from curiosity to strategy?
Jeremy Kasler: While working in Hong Kong, investors began asking about whiskey barrels. As we studied the market, we saw a clear opportunity. We initially focused on Scotch, but demand in the U.S. quickly shifted us toward bourbon.

Monarch: What makes bourbon a viable asset today?
Jeremy Kasler: Whiskey is one of the few assets that naturally appreciates over time. It enters the barrel as a clear spirit and improves through aging, gaining both complexity and value.

Monarch: How does CaskX support investors entering this space?
Jeremy Kasler: Our role is to bring structure to what has historically been a fragmented market. We connect investors with distilleries, oversee the lifecycle of the asset, and provide transparency so they understand exactly what they own.

Monarch: In a fast-paced world, what does it mean to invest in something that requires patience?
Jeremy Kasler: It’s a mindset shift. Bourbon investment is about steady, long-term appreciation and wealth preservation, not quick returns.

Monarch: What does legacy look like in this space?
Jeremy Kasler: It can be deeply personal—like buying a barrel when a child is born and opening it years later—or something passed down through generations.

Monarch: How do you balance bourbon’s cultural identity with its financial positioning?
Jeremy Kasler: Investors already love whiskey. Our role is to guide them toward strategic decisions, not emotional ones.

Monarch: What inspired you to open this space to more investors?
Jeremy Kasler: Historically, this market was limited to insiders. We wanted to create a platform that provides access, education, and a clear framework for participation.

Monarch: What risks should investors understand?
Jeremy Kasler: Not all bourbon is investment-grade. Location, distillery quality, and leadership all matter—similar to evaluating a company.

Monarch: How do you create transparency in a private market?

Jeremy Kasler: Education and structure are key. Investors need to understand what they own and why.

Monarch: How do you see alternative assets shaping the future of wealth?
Jeremy Kasler: High-net-worth portfolios already include alternatives. That trend is expanding as more investors seek diversification.

Monarch: What should someone consider when building a legacy portfolio?
Jeremy Kasler: Think long-term and generationally. Choose assets that can appreciate over decades.

Monarch: Your personal favorite bourbon?
Jeremy Kasler: I enjoy a classic Old Fashioned with a large cube and extra bitters. Bardstown bourbon is a favorite, and Pappy Van Winkle for special occasions.

Monarch: Where can readers learn more?
Jeremy Kasler: Visit caskx.com to explore and start the conversation.

Paintings are influenced by his experiences with brotherhood at both Morehouse and as a firefighter. In creating his art, he is actively thinking about the perception of black men and attempting to be a catalyst for a different view on the black male experience. According to Daniels, the conversations happening in popular culture about black males leave them invisible in discussions about themselves. The portraits of black men Daniels creates are large in an effort to symbolically assert black male presence into those conversations. His work has been shown around the world through Almine Rech and Richard Beavers Gallery. Xavier lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.
