A Thousand and One follows the unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Teyana Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old son, Terry, from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability in a rapidly changing New York City.

WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP

Starring: Lance Reddick, Laura Harrier, Teyana Taylor

A remake of the 1992 film about a pair of basketball hustlers who team up to earn extra cash. One of the best sports movies that, for the time, was unique in its approach—sarcastic, funny, and smart. Let’s hope that the new version offers us the same.

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON

Based on a true story of the brutal murders behind white settlers’ attempted dispossession of an Osage family’s Oklahoma lands, under which lay some of the world’s most valuable oil fields. This conspiracy of theft, terror, and genocide helped launch a major FBI investigation involving J. Edgar Hoover.

THE MOTHER

Starring: Jennifer Lopez, Paul Raci, Gael Garcia Bernal

Jennifer Lopez gears up to become an assassin, in the film, The Mother. A new action thriller directed by Niki Caro and written by Lovecraft Country creator Misha Green, the movie tells the story of an assassin (Lopez) who comes out of hiding to protect a daughter she gave up years before. The action film has a vide that resembles the Luc Besson thriller, The Professional.
